On October 11, 2025, SMAIR Foundation proudly hosted a transformative workshop to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, themed “Digital Generation. Our Generation.” Held at Straitgate Nursery & Primary School Hall, Magodo GRA II, Lagos, the event brought together over 130 girls from several public schools across Lagos for an exciting day of empowerment, mentorship, and hands-on digital learning.

The workshop opened with prayers, the national anthem, and a heartfelt welcome address by Mrs. Nnenna Okore, who encouraged participants to believe in their potential as future tech leaders.
Miss Olivia Andrews, the event anchor, kept the day lively as she recognized distinguished guests and introduced a lineup of inspiring speakers.

Thinking Beyond Borders: Thriving in Global Tech: Miss Coretta Martin
Miss Coretta Martin set the tone with an inspiring message about embracing the global opportunities that technology offers. She challenged participants to think big, stay curious, and view technology as a bridge to the world beyond their immediate environment.

Building a Career That Can Impact the World: Mrs. Rhoda Ayinde
In a compelling session, Mrs. Rhoda Ayinde encouraged the girls to pursue careers rooted in purpose and passion. She emphasized that every girl has the ability to create positive change through technology and leadership, inspiring attendees to dream beyond traditional boundaries.

Resilience in an Ever-Changing World: Mrs. Ifedayo Adeoba
Mrs. Ifedayo Adeoba closed the keynote sessions with a powerful talk on resilience and adaptability. She reminded the girls that growth often comes through challenges and that determination is key to thriving in a constantly evolving world.

Coding Session: Learning the Language of the Future
Participants then dived into an engaging Code.org activity, where they were introduced to the fundamentals of coding through interactive exercises. Guided by facilitators, the girls discovered how logic, creativity, and technology combine to shape the world they live in.
Robotics Workshop: Bringing Ideas to Life
The excitement continued with a robotics session that gave participants hands-on experience in assembling and programming basic robots. The session sparked curiosity, teamwork, and innovation. Key skills that will empower these young learners to explore STEM fields with confidence.
